Position Overview:
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and assets. This role involves monitoring premises, enforcing security policies, responding to emergencies, and ensuring that all security procedures are followed to prevent any breaches or incidents. The ideal candidate will have excellent observational skills, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Patrol industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Operate and monitor surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to detect and manage any potential security breaches.
2. Incident Response:
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Provide assistance during emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and evacuations.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel when necessary.
3. Access Control:
Enforce access control procedures by verifying identification and credentials of all persons entering and leaving the premises.
- Maintain records of all security-related activities, including visitor logs, incident reports, and daily activity reports.
4. Policy Enforcement:
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security and safety, including the handling of classified or sensitive information.
- Conduct routine inspections of safety and fire equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with regulations.
5. Reporting:
- Document and report any suspicious activities, security breaches, or safety hazards to management.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on all security incidents and ensure proper documentation for potential legal proceedings.
6. Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to employees and visitors by assisting them with directions, information, and other inquiries.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security or law enforcement are a plus.
- Prior experience in a security-related role preferred.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Proficiency in using security systems and surveillance equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical ability to perform patrols and respond to incidents.
Working Conditions:
- May require standing or patrolling for extended periods.
- May require working in various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to potentially stressful situations and environments.
